Brand new compost set-up

It’s always the little things that make a difference.

Like how far you have to walk between the chicken coop and the compost bin. Common problem for all you, right?

The big little victory this week was getting my composting system and bedding storage moved to within 20 feet of the chicken coop. Which is also inside the garden area. No more walking in and out of the garden, through gates, around 75 feet of fence, and needing a wheelbarrow. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

A shovel and ten steps is all it takes to clean out the coop now. Same thing to get new bedding in.

Next Spring, the compost will be located right next to the raised beds. Again, a shovel and ten steps will get compost into the soil for growing.

Time and efficiency is everything, my friends. Always nice to make a dent in the 80%.

  1. I know what you mean. We moved our compost heap over closer to the rabbits and chickens last month so we didn’t have to make such a trek either. It is so much easier.
